First off, no, I'm not ignoring you. XD

The cruel truth is that, sometime over the winter, I managed to overload my laptop's cpu to the point of causing heat damage. The computer still works, but the damaged cpu, which overheated at least twice more before I realized the problem, can no longer handle more than one program running at once without overheating. So when I turn the comp on (and thank my lucky stars that it did so.) I have a choice to make. I can either a) browse the internet, b) listen to music or watch vids on windows media player, c) write on Microsoft Works, or d) chat on messenger or skype. I can no longer play games at all.

The least demanding game I own, Penumbra Overture, causes the cpu to heat up to a hot 158 degress within a minute of loading. For comparison purposes, an undamaged version of my cpu gets that hot for heavy gaming, and Penumbra could hardly be considered such. Sims 3, the most demanding game I have, heats the cpu to a fiery 167 degrees during loading. I didn't stick around to see how hot things would get if I left the game running. Considering the last time I really played that game, the game locked up and damn near locked up the whole damned computer, I imagine things got pretty damned hot.

So no, I'm not ignoring you guys, it's just when I come home from work, I want to read or write to relax and unwind. I might pop on every now and then, but I doubt I'll stay long.

Hopefully, I'll be able to scrape the money together to get a new one before this one dies, which it's going to do eventually. The thing about the whole mess that simply infuriates me, is it's my own damn fault. I knew the comp was getting too hot, but I kept chugging right along for a while before taking it up to have the heat sink cleaned out. The heat sink turned out to be completely clogged, so I'm sure that's when the damage occurred. Playing games on a damaged cpu just made it worse.
