[Error: unknown template qotd] Anne Rice's Quuen of the Damned. I loved that book; it's my favorite our of all the vampire books I've read, which includes Bram Stoker's Dracula. I heard it was made into a movie, and I was so thrilled, but then I saw a preview of it, and I was nearly sick. They gave the role of Lestat to an actor that was completely unsuited for it, and what's more, they had him speaking with this screwed up wanna be Romanian accent. Since Lestat is French, that made no sense to me.
Queen Akasha, the 5000 year old vampire queen, is from Egypt, so she's an Arab, and Anne Rice's vampires lose their skill color as they age, so in the book, Akasha's skin is whiter, completely white, yet they cast a black woman in her role. I never really paid attention to the movie after seeing the previews of it, so I can't say how well she did or did not do, but someone from that part of the world, dollwed up to have white skin, would have suited better.
Marius - my favorite fictional vampire. In the books, he is the son of a Roman senator and a Celtic princess, and he resembles his mother. He is tall, with blond hair, blue eyes, and "strong" jawline and cheekbones. The actor that portrays him is short, dark haired, dark eyed, and in no way even minutely resembles Marius.
After seeing that they didn't even bother to try and cast the movie right, and after hearing Lestat's horrible, out of place acccent, I said to hell with the movie and never bothered to watch the rest of it.
