The Devil Cry Timeline Part 1

Title: The Devils Cry Timeline

Disclaimer: Devil May Cry and it’s characters and situations are the sole property of Capcom. I am making no money or profit off of this fanfiction and no copyright infringement is intended. On the other hand all original characters and situations are mine so please don’t run off with them without my knowledge or consent.
Summary: Having trouble keeping all the events and characters in “The Devils Cry” straight? Yeah, me too. So for the sake of all of us, here is the complete timeline to help you keep things together. I should warn you though, that this timeline will give EVERYTHING away.
SPOILER WARNING!!!: Spoilers for “The Devils Cry” and “The Devils Cry Part 2” as well as all three Devil May Cry games.


The Devils Cry Timeline Pre Story



23,533 B. C. - Lemian Bolverk born to Lals and Sese Bolverk. At birth, it is clear that his body is weak, though his magic is very strong. He is saved from execution by his maternal grandfather, who is the Valters patriarch.
23,021 B. C. - Lemian is ousted from the Bolverk family. He is taken in by the Valters family and adopted by his grandfather, Patriarch Arilan Valters.
21,100 B. C. - Lemian Bolverk steals the magic away from his family and then crowns himself emperor of the Underworld. Angry at both families for how they treated him as a child, he muddles memories, causing the Valters family to take the blame for the loss of the Bolverk magic, starting the feud between the two.
20,000 B. C. - Almen Sparda given life by Lemian Bolverk.
15,324 B. C. - Isa Sparda born to Almen and Hilaas
12,043 B. C. - Isa marries Kemin Sris
11,763 B. C. - Asala Valters born.
11,273 B. C. - Ilik Sparda born to Isa and Kemin
11,198 B. C. - Lemian orders the Spardas to prevent a potential rebellion among the Six by whatever means and force necessary. When they balk at harming those they consider kin, he removes some of their power, leaving them still the strongest of the families but nowhere near what they were before.
11,000 B. C. - Ifrit Ximorn born
8,974 B. C. - Ifrit crafts his Ensouled Hellfire Gauntlets
8,804 B. C. - Asala marries Esel Sarcesti.
8,345 B. C. - Luka Valters born to Asala and Esel.

14 B. C. - Sirce Valters born to Nestor and Liris
5 B. C. - Mundus declares the start of the human/ demon war
4 A. D.. - Luka Valters and his three sons are murdered by Mundus and are later found dead in an isolated part of the Underworld. Nestor becomes the patriarch.
18 A. D. - Akemus is murdered by Mundus. The murder is covered up and humans take the blame.
19 A. D. - Sparda learns the real reason behind his son’s death. He then rebels, and sometime during this, he encounters, fights, and draws with Bolverk Vimors Bolverk. He also encounters his mother and sister. Nakisa and Areceli are later killed by Mundus for not stopping him.
- Mundus convinces Aselni Sarcesti that placing Talthos is stasis will protect him.
- Talthos is forced into stasis against his will, and Mundus tells Luxian that it is to protect him from Sparda.
- Sparda seals Mundus in his throne room.
- Sparda seals the Temen-ni-gru.
- The temporary seal on Mundus that imprisons him in his throne room breaks.
30 A. D. - Cele Itarls born
206 A. D. - Thenal Bolverk born to Rithas Bolverk and
419 A. D. - Atalia leaves the demon world.
424 A. D. - Kastor Valters born to Nestor and Liris
463 A. D. - The Death Sentence vanishes from the Sarcesti family vault.
- The Melancholy Soul is stolen from the Valters.
- The Pride of Lion is stolen from the Bolverks.
- The Guiding Light is stolen from the Sris.
765 A. D. - Mundus gives in to Luxian’s pleas to have Talthos in Lar’cincel, and the elder demon is moved there.
873 A. D. - Sparda begins keeping a record of his kills and the gates he’s closed in a large, leather bound book.
1,259 A. D. - Liine Bolverk born to Rithas Bolverk and
1,288 A. D. - Hital Valters born to Nestor and Liris
1,290 A. D. - Cijarnae Sarcesti born to Aselni Sarcesti and her husband, Namir Itarls.
1,458 A. D. - A large Hell Gate is created in the Swiss Alps. It is not used much at first. The locals, in an attempt to stop the attacks that do happen, construct a stone floor over it. The seal simply moves on top of the stones.
1,462 A. D. - Luxian leads an attack on villages on the Swiss Alps. Sparda appears and fights his brother, while trying to explain the reasons behind his rebellion. Luxian does not listen and Sparda forces him back through the gate and partially seals it. He is gifted the land in gratitude and he builds a castle over it to better guard it.
1,502 A. D - Sparda leaves his castle and runs the estate from afar. When Mundus becomes aware of the book that Sparda carries, he begins sending teams to try and steal it.
1,504 A. D. - Realizing that he can no longer keep the book with him, Sparda entrusts it to the Lenfant family, a family of demon hunters living in France. He then leads Mundus to believe that he still possesses it. He returns periodically to add to it.
1,971 A. D. - Eva Rycroft born
1,980 A. D. - The Rycroft farm is attacked by lesser demons. Sparda stops it, and Eva sees him as he’s leaving.
1,989 A. D. - The Rycroft farm is attacked again. This time everyone but Eva is killed. She becomes determined to become a demon hunter herself and seeks Sparda out. She convinces him to teach her. Reluctantly, he agrees.
1,992 A. D. - Sparda marries Eva. Later that year, he commissions a life sized portrait of his father.
1,997 A. D. - Vergil and Dante born
2,008 A. D. - Fearing that he may die or be captured without telling anyone about the gate under his Swiss estate, Sparda adds a notation in the back of his book. He then pens a letter to Dante and Vergil on the back of his father’s portrait.
2,009 A. D. - Sparda captured by Luxian and Bolverk Vimors Bolverk while out hunting and imprisoned and tortured in the Underworld.
2,012 A. D. - Dante finds a hidden stairway at the Swiss estate and he and Vergil explore it and find the gate at the bottom. They watch as Luxian comes through it, and run upstairs. Unbeknownst to them, Luxian hastily casts a block on Dante’s memories so he would not remember the gate. Eva is murdered and Vergil is kidnapped. Dante escapes and is later sent to live with Atalia. Vergil is taken down to the Underworld by Luxian to live in Lar’cincel Later that year, after studying the process in Lar’cincel’s library, Vergil ensouls the Yamato. He doesn’t know it, but Sparda is guiding him through the process.
2,013 A. D. - Luxian steals part of Vergil’s soul to make him easier to mold and control, leaving him unable to feel remorse or guilt for his actions. In the human world, Atalia has a house built out in the country to Dante can have space to run.
2,018 A. D. - Vergil is allowed to leave the demon world and return to the human world. Before he leaves, Luxian puts a block on his memories, making him forget virtually everything that has happened before. Devil May Cry 3 takes place. Vergil tries to fight Mundus and fails. He is imprisoned and tortured relentlessly by demons in the guise of his mother. Eventually, he loses all sense of self, becoming a mindless soldier for Mundus.
2,031 A. D. - Devil May Cry takes place. For his failure, Vergil is imprisoned and tortured once more.
2,032 A. D. - Trish and Dante split up. Later that same year, she is killed for her betrayal and Devil May Cry 2 takes place. Bolverk Vimors Bolverk is killed by Dante. His younger son, Rithas, becomes the Bolverk patriarch, defeating his older brother, Elsec, to do so.
2,033 A. D. - Mundus hatches a plan to defeat Dante and sends Sirce Valters to the human world to seduce him and get pregnant by him. She succeeds, but Dante puts a power blocking bracelet on her that will prevent her from doing harm to him, herself, or the baby she carries.
2,034 A. D. - Alastair born to Dante and Sirce. Sirce leaves and is killed by Mundus three days later.
2,037 A. D. - Determined to have a Sparda child to use as a soldier, Mundus orders Cele Itarls to do whatever necessary to get herself pregnant by the elder Vergil, who is still imprisoned. During the act, Vergil begins to come back to himself.
2,038 A. D. - Larcersa Sparda born to Vergil and Cele. Cele is killed by Mundus immediately after his birth, and the child is given to his Uncle Luxian to raise.
2,041 A. D. - Vergil, whose mind has cleared considerably, manages to smuggle three year old Larcersa out of the Underworld and to his brother’s shop. He doesn’t know it, but he had help in navigating the Underworld from Sparda. The boy is renamed Vergil by Dante. Vergil is recaptured, but he manages to convince his captors that he is still insane.
2,056 A. D. - Vergil II goes off to college to study demonology, and he meets Adele Lenfant. The power blocking collar around Sparda’s neck begins to weaken, allowing his power to gradually return.
