Things like "It was God's will." or "He works in mysterious ways." make me want to scream. I really don't care for organized religion to begin with, but things like that make it feel that everything that happens in our lives is at the whim of some invisible, all powerful being. So it doesn't matter that I worked my ass off to get where I am, I only got there because it was God's will. And when my beloved cat that I had had for 12 years died in my arms and someone told me that "The Lord works in mysterious ways." I wanted to murder them.

Yeah that drove me insane too, and was one of the reasons I went for a different layout. I wish I knew how to make my own though, but I know very little html and no CSS, so...

Though I don't know how to make LJ layouts myself. I can just build a website/web page, ahahaha. XDDD

I edited the code for my LJ layout, though. I can do that without problems. You'd just have to steal someone else's CSS that you like, and I'll edit it for you as per your specifications. <3

What is the name of the layout you're using now? If you like it (I personally do), go check out the community mintyapple for custom layouts that use this base layout, as I like to call it, if available. You'll be able to see which base layouts have custom layouts by exploring the different tags that say "style: ". Happy hunting! XD

My biggest problem with most lj layouts is poor contrast. I used to have the River at Night layout, and I love the Tokyo Skyline layout, but both of them have white/green print on a black background, which just kills my eyes. It would be great if I could get a lj that the cuts take you to a white page with black text, but I thnk that feature if for comms only.

When you're going to look for layouts, ignore the colors/headers/etc. All of that can be changed. I just can't change the overall structure of the layout, having not built it myself. For instance, if it has the sidebar on the left, I can't just move it to the right. I would break the whole layout. XDDD

So, don't worry about the colors used in layouts when you're looking. I can change everything. <3 Just look for STRUCTURES that you like. Like, whether or not you want a header, whether you want a sidebar, and if so, which side you want it on, etc.
