The Fanfictionary Part W....
Wangst - This is the disgusting extreme of Angst that makes you just want to strangle the author and scream in frustration as you murder the characters involved. Symptoms include: sobbing oneself to sleep, several suicide attempts, cutting and self mutilation, Evanescence lyrics and so forth. Usually a sign of Mary Sues, but not always.
Wank - A fanfiction author who is arrogant, full of themselves, and thinks that their work is THE thing, and they get royally offended if a reviewer dares to tells them otherwise.
Wilver - A relative of Urple and yet another sign of Mary Sueism , Wilver is a combination of silver and any color in existence, as in: silver-blue, silver-red, silver-green. You get the idea.
Work In Progress (or WIP for short) - A Work In Progress is a fanfiction that is published in short installments and is being written on even as it's being published.
Woobie - A male character, usually a good looking one, who is constantly in a state of misery and woe, making fangirls want to snatch him up again and cuddle him. Some Fangirls will go out of their way to make a canon character a Woobie, no matter how unlikely that would be. Woobies CAN be female too, though that is rare.
Wrenching Heart Aching Moment (or WHAM for short) - A WHAM in most fandoms refers to general romance, but it can also mean exactly what it says - a Wrenching Heart Aching Moment - or it can be another phrase for a Toad Strangler.
Writer's Block - Every writer's worst nightmare, no matter what they write, be it fanfiction or original fiction or just columns for the local newspaper. Writer's Block is when your imagination refuses to work on a piece no matter how hard you try to force it to. Professional writers have nearly had their careers ruined by stubborn cases of Writer's Block. For fanfiction writers, breaking it's grip on your imagination can be fairly easy, as usually all it takes is watching, reading, or playing the canon material that inspired you to begin with.
