The Fanfictionary Parts Y and Z...
Yaoi - The term Yaoi is used to refer to any Manga or anime that is very pornographic in nature to the point where sex is the story, only it happens to involve sex between men. It is one of the subgenres of Hentai, and is for all intents and purposes, a PWP. Now it is also used over here as a generic term for male/ male Slash, and is a synonym for the fanfiction definition of Shounen-ai. The word is an acronym derived form the Japanese phrase: Yama nashi, Ochi nashi, Imi nashi, meaning "No climax, no point, no reason". (This is a Japanese term that came into use outside of fanfiction.)
Yiffi - Containing sexual situations in an exaggerated or silly situation.
Yuri (A. K. A. Femslash) - Translated Yuri means:"lily". Same as Yaoi, only it involves females, and it also basically a PWP. It is a synonym for the fanfiction definition of Shoujo-ai. (This is a Japanese term that came into use outside of fanfiction.)
Zombie Fic (A. K. A. Resurrection Fic (or Resfic for short)) - A fic that brings back a dead, well loved canon character - even if the canon character in question is practically never seen in the canon. Bringing back Vergil or Sparda in Devil May Cry fanfiction are two common examples.
