August 16 - Chapter 3 - Dante goes to speak with his godmother, Rachel Areceli, who is really Atalia Sarcesti, about Alastair’s dreams. She tells him to not worry about them, that they may tell him something important.
August 31 - The younger Vergil tells Dante that he and Adele are serious. Dante cautions him again to be careful about telling Adele about the family history.
September 19 - Chapter 4 - Adele’s family is slaughtered by Luxian as he looks for Sparda’s book early in the day while Adele and Vergil are in Paris. Later, Dante thinks about how Alastair‘s dreams have not repeated in the past month and how quiet things have been in the devil hunting business lately. Vergil and Adele return to her parents home to find the carnage inside, and Adele blames Vergil’s not telling her about who he is, and who is related to, for the deaths. She breaks up with him and gives him the book. In shock, Vergil goes home and calls his dad. Dante leaves to go get him and bring him home.
September 19 - 20 - Chapter 5 - Vergil thinks on the discovery of Adele’s family while he waits for Dante. He begins to blame himself. Dante arrives and packs up Vergil’s apartment and takes him home. Dante reflects on his father and his brother while doing so. Down in the Underworld, the elder Vergil accidentally blows his cover, revealing his sanity to Mundus.
September 21 - Vergil and Dante arrive at home. Playing on the young man’s guilt, Mundus begins sending him nightmares in which he murders Adele’s family. Dante and Alastair cannot wake him. They call Rachel for help, and she arrives and gives Vergil some herbal tea that puts him into a dreamless sleep. First mention of the name “Akemus” is made by Rachel. She informs them that only someone with the same blood and power as Vergil could block or break the connection that Mundus is using to send him the nightmares.
September 25 - Chapter 6 - The sedative tea that Dante and Alastair have been giving to Vergil begins to wear off. In the Underworld, the elder Vergil is suffering a torture session when he notices a thin black ribbon of power leading from Mundus to somewhere unknown. When his pain forces him temporarily from his body, he touches the ribbon and realizes what it is for. He blocks it, changing the dream that the younger Vergil was suffering through, inserting himself and having a heart to heart with his son. As he does so, Dante, who is watching his adopted son, sees him calming down. Later, the younger Vergil tells his dad and sister what happened. He and Dante then have a conversation about Sparda’s reasons for defecting, and Vergil believes that Sparda had NO reason for defecting that he can think of. The Yamato settles down, allowing Vergil to use it again.
September 30 - Chapter 7 - Mundus announces to Rithas Bolverk that he is moving his plans ahead. Dante thinks on how he can’t remember his chlldhood. Dante’s office is attacked, and Sparda’s book, which Vergil had been translating, is stolen. Alastair loses the battle of the points.
September 30 - Chapter 8 - Dante tells Alastair and Vergil about the Temen-ni-gru and Mallet Island.
October 1 - Sparda reaches out to Talthos and manages to weaken the stasis spell on him, allowing the older demon to regain some consciousness.
October 2 - Chapter 9 - Luxian is given the task of going through Sparda’s book as well as hunting down his nephew and grand niece and nephew. He then spends some time torturing the elder Vergil. In the human world, Dante and the younger Vergil hear the elder Vergil’s scream of agony and discuss getting him out of the Underworld.
October 3 - Luxian reminisces on his murder of Eva and corrupting of Vergil, Vergil’s failure to kill his brother at the Temen-ni-gru, Vergil’s failure to kill his brother on Mallet Island, and how the half demon had been imprisoned and tortured ever since for his failure. He also thinks of Larcersa’s conception and birth, and how the elder Vergil had smuggled his son to the human world. Luxian visits the slumbering Talthos, who is conscious enough to hear parts of the one sided conversation, and thinks on the events that caused Talthos to be put under.
October 3 - Chapter 10 - Vergil escapes his imprisonment and makes it to Lar’cincel, the Sparda family tower, with a bit of assistance from Zenedris Sarcesti.
October 3 - Chapter 11 - Vergil explores Lar’cincel and comes across Talthos. Luxian threatens Vergil and orders him out of the room, and Talthos hears part of it. Seated in her library at Dali’mar’ne, the Sarcesti tower, Zenedris thinks on Atalia and Sparda, her secret love for Talthos, Luxian, the family crests, and her reasons for helping Vergil get to Lar’cincel. She then decides to help Vergil escape the Underworld.
October 4 - Chapter 12 - Zenedris locates the spell she needs to get Vergil out of the Underworld. She thinks of and discards several ideas to get the spell cast before figuring out a way that will work. She calls her great grandson, Cijarnae, up to the library and sends him to Lar’cincel, disguised as one of Mundus’ messengers, with a letter for Vergil. Cijarnae fools Luxian into going to the throne room and gives the letter to Vergil. Vergil takes the book and one of his father’s swords, the Retribution. Then the two go to Dali’mar’ne. Unbeknownst to either of them, Cijarnae had dropped the letter in Lar’cincel.
October 5 - Chapter 13 - Vergil has the spell to transport him back to the human world explained to him by Zenedris. When she asks where to send him, he admits to her that he can’t remember the human world anymore, or much of anything else for that matter. Luxian learns of Vergil’s absence from the tower and discovers the note that Cijarnae dropped. He storms off to the throne room to report. Mundus orders the Valters family to attack the wards around Dali’mar’ne, so he can get to Vergil and Zenedris. The wards around the tower fall, with help from Aselni Sarcesti, and during the ensuing battle, Hector Valters and Salmeth Sarcesti are killed as well as three other members of the Sarcesti family and two others from the Valters family. Zenedris manages to cast the spell and send Vergil the human world. Dali’mar’ne is burned to the ground and the library is rescued later by Lestor and Vector Valters, on orders from Nestor.
October 6 - 20 - Chapter 14 - Vergil recuperates at Atalia’s house. Father and son truly meet for the first time. Dante and Vergil meet for the first time in 25 years. Atalia feels a flicker from the remains of the severed marriage bond that she has with Sparda.
2,058 A. D. - Sri Sris becomes the patriarch of the Sris family after his father is killed by Salia Sarcesti.
The Devils Cry Part 2 takes place.
September 23 - Chapter 1 - Talthos is brought out of stasis. He remembers very little, but Sparda speaks into his mind, giving him reminders.
September 23 - Chapter 2 - The elder Vergil wakes from a nightmare and goes downstairs to cook breakfast for his brother, son, and niece. During breakfast, the younger Vergil reads a page from the newspaper about a town in the Swiss Alps that was slaughtered. Everyone agrees that it sounds like demons were responsible. The elder Vergil has a panic and attack, and later, the younger Vergil thinks on his own visions, his first few years in the Underworld, and being adopted by his uncle. Dante and the younger Vergil discuss the blocking of the visions the previous year, the human branch of the Sparda family, a vampire that protects a family of vampire hunters (“A Moment of Stupidity” reference!) and going on a vacation to Hawaii once everything is settled. Dante and Alastair go to work.
October 4 - Chapter 3 - Dante sits at his desk, cleaning the Sparda, and he thinks on his brother, Alastair’s conception and birth, the younger Vergil’s arrival, and his brother’s mental problems. In the Underworld, Talthos lies in a urine soaked bed, thinking on how he can’t remember anything, and how Luxian neglects him.
October 15 - Chapter 4 - Alastair has her first dream of the castle in a year. Unable to go back to sleep, she goes down to the dining room bar and finds her uncle there, drinking Lerkahm like water. She notes that he is no healthier than he was ten months previous. He admits that maybe he is out to kill himself, that he has no purpose there. Alastair lectures him and he falls off his stool, breaking his arm. The younger Vergil heals it and takes his father back up to bed. In the Underworld, Luxian rants mentally to himself about his father’s weakness and Mundus’ plans for him. He reports to Mundus that Talthos is not recovering and goes down to his brother’s cell to rant to him. Sparda appears to be catatonic. Later, feeding his father, Luxian has the plan to abandon Talthos somewhere so Mundus cannot breed him. Sparda thinks on what his brother had said to him.
October 16 - Chapter 5 - Zenedris lies in her cell in the Forgotten Levels, thinking on her family, the fall of Dali’mar’ne, the death of her son, Salmeth, and Talthos Sparda. She is taken to Mundus’ bedchamber, where she sees Talthos lying on the bed. Luxian reveals his plan to abandon Talthos to Sparda and returns to find Talthos gone from the tower. He goes to the throne room. Zenedris holds Talthos in her arms while he tells her that Mundus wants the two of them to conceive a child together. Luxian is informed by Mundus that he was moving his plans for Talthos forward, and Luxian receives the first hint that maybe Sparda was right in rebelling. He also learns that Sparda had hidden the information about he location of a large gate in the back of his book. Luxian is sent to the human world to kill Dante, Alastair, and the elder Vergil and bring to younger Vergil back to the Underworld. Talthos is told what had been going on by Zenedris, and he learns that Sparda and Atalia’s marriage bond is still there, and that Sparda is very likely still alive. Mundus heads to the room to see if the two have completed their business.
Chapter 6 - Alastair gripes about the silence of the phone, and Dante tells her how Vergil screwed up Mundus’ plans in escaping. Luxian arrives and flips Dante’s desk over, and the office is swarmed with lesser demons. Luxian challenges Dante to a sword duel, and the two of them step outside, leaving Alastair to handle the lesser demons. At the same time, demons swarm around the house in which the two Vergils are at. Sensing them, the younger Vergil gets the Yamato and herds his father into the weapons room, telling him how Rachel had heavily warded the room, so even if the house were to burn down, they would be safe. The older Vergil sees Talthos’ portrait over the fireplace and recognizes him. The wards around the house collapse with the help of Aselni Sarcesti. Dante realizes that he is trouble with how fast and powerful Luxian is as Alastair fights Shadows. Dante gets the drop of Luxian, who then drops his human form and draws his Ensouled. Knowing that he will have to fight, the younger Vergil takes Agni and Rudra as well as two other short swords down from the wall to better use in the smaller space. He then puts his father in the corner and puts himself between the elder Vergil and the door just as the wards around the weapons room come crashing down, again with help from Aselni Sarcesti. Alastair is grabbed by a self destructing Shadow, which ruins her record of fighting Shadows unscathed. Furious, she takes it out on the other Shadow. The younger Vergil’s chest is gouged open by a Shadow, and he falls back into his father’s arms and lapses into unconsciousness. He is taken by the lesser demons, and the elder Vergil is attacked. Dante cannot awaken his father’s soul within the sword, and gets the strangest impression that the soul is busy elsewhere. As a result, he loses the fight with Luxian and is pinned to the ground. Luxian goes to cut him off, but his downward swing is stopped by Alastair and the Alastor. The two Ensouleds battle each other for dominance before the Alastor shatters.
Chapter 7 - The fragment of soul that gave the Alastor sword its power comes out of the shattered remains of the sword and coalesces into Alastor himself. Alastor stops Luxian’s attack and runs him off, just as Luxian gets word that the younger Vergil had been captured. He taunts Dante and leaves. Sparda, with the power blocking collar no longer functioning, escapes easily from his cell and returns to Lar’cincel. Rachel arrives at the Sparda house and kills the demons attacking Vergil, who is blaming himself for being too much of a coward to stop them from taking his son. Alastor, Dante, and Alastair have a short conversation before Alastair remembers about her uncle. Alastor returns to his Ensouled and the sword repairs itself as Alastair and Dante watch. The two return to the house to find Rachel holding Vergil in her arms in the wreckage of the weapons room. Dante punches his brother and orders him out of the house, inadvertinely using the patriarchal magic to force him to obey. Alastair goes with him and tries to get him to lay down on the couch. Sparda, safely in Lar’cincel, reclaims the title of patriarch, causing the magic and crest to leave Dante. With Dante’s command no longer having any power behind it, Alastair gets Vergil to lie down on the couch, where he promptly falls asleep. The four of them go to Rachel’s apartment to stay the night.
October 16 - Chapter 8 - Luxian tosses the younger Vergil into a chair instead of taking him to Mundus so he may use him as a bargaining chip later to save himself. Sparda surprises him in the library, and orders him to ready a room for Vergil to rest in and also to see that Talthos’ room is ready for him, then he is to go to his own room and stay there and not speak to anyone. Vergil regains consciousness and finds his grandfather beside him. He instinctively knows who it is, and the two plot to rescue Talthos and the Sarcesti family. Alastair has another dream of the castle, and this time Sparda speaks directly to her, telling her to look in the book. She does so, and she finds a single sentence in it. She wakes Rachel and shows her. Rachel returns to the Sparda house and brings back Talthos’ portrait She slices open the brown paper on the back and finds a letter penned by Sparda on the back of the canvas. Vergil lies in bed, feeling guilty for everything that had gone wrong, and Alastair drags him out of it and takes him into the living room to show him the letter. He and Dante read it, and it tells them about Sparda’s castle in the Swiss Alps and the gate under it. Vergil and Dante have a heart to heart and the group plans to go to the Underworld. Rachel tells them that they aren’t doing anything until they’ve rested, so she sends Dante and Alastair back to their house to collect what they might need and sends Vergil to bed. She then goes into her library and collects her own weapons, thinking on old regrets and things long past.
Chapter 9 - Mundus beats Talthos for not conceiving a child with Zenedris. After Mundus leaves, Sparda appears, kills the guards and takes the two out of the room, while Vergil frees the Sarcesti family. Rachel sends Dante, Alastair and the older Vergil to Sparda’s castle, hoping that the trek through it might break the blocks on the twins’ memories. She then follows Luxian through the gate that he took. Sparda checks the books in Lar’cincel’s library, looking for something to close the gate with. He senses Atalia’s arrival and orders Luxian to lead her to Lar’cincel. He then removes the collars from Talthos and Zenedris, causing her to pass out. Atalia lets it slip that the younger Vergil has a girlfriend, and when the young man corrects her, she tells Sparda that she needs to speak to him alone. The younger Vergil takes Talthos out of the room and Zenedris leaves to visit her family. Atalia sits Sparda down to talk to him.
Chapter 10 - Trekking through the castle, Alastair remarks on how empty and silent it is, and Vergil points out that maybe its because Mundus does not want to attract attention to the gate’s existence. Atalia tells Sparda what happened to Adele’s family and how she blamed Vergil for what had happened and broke up with him. Once she is done, she leaves the library, leaving a stack of books for him to look through. Inspecting the basement, Vergil, Dante, and Alastair find no sign of the gate. The tree head upstairs, and Vergil panics when he sees a family portrait with his mother in it. Sparda and the younger Vergil talk about the older Vergil, and how Rachel had said that he had had something taken from him. Sparda storms up to Luxian’s room and threatens the younger demon with disembowelment if he doesn’t tell him where the missing part of Vergil’s soul is. Luxian admits that Mundus has it in the throne room. Dante, Vergil and Alastair go into the twins’ playroom, and Dante forces himself to go in.
Chapter 11 - Sparda sneaks to the throne room while Atalia tells Zenedris about the collapse of the wards around Dante’s house. Both of them realize that only someone of Sarcesti blood could have brought the wards down, but they don’t know how. Sparda finds the missing part of Vergil’s soul and is caught by Mundus before he can pick it up. Dante steps over the threshold to the playroom, and the block on his memories shatter, allowing him to remember everything, including Luxian coming through the gate and the murder of his mother. He passes out. Mundus mocks Sparda, and Sparda summons his father’s sword, preparing to fight. Alastair slaps Dante awake, and he tells her and Vergil where the gate is. Sparda realizes that he is too weak to fight Mundus. Dante, Vergil, and Alastair pass through the gate to the Underworld. Atalia appears and distracts Mundus long enough for Sparda to grab Vergil’s soul and run. The two seal the throne room and go back to Lar’cincel. Sparda, Vergil, and Dante have a family reunion, and everyone gathers together in Lar’cincel’s main room, and Sparda begins to explain things.
Chapter 12 - Sparda explains most of what has happened: the death of Akemus and his reasons for rebelling, the deaths of his mother and sister, the destruction of he and Atalia’s marriage bonds and the reasons behind it, Atalia’s defection, and the gate in the Swiss Alps. To try and convince Luxian that what Sparda is saying is the truth, Talthos shows everyone his memory of how he was forced into stasis, and how Mundus admitted to him that he had killed Akemus. Luxian still does not believe, and Zenedris recognizes the one who cast the spell on Talthos as her granddaughter, Aselni, and she storms out of the room to confront her.
Chapter 13 - Zenedris confronts Aselni, who defends herself by saying that Mundus had threatened Cijarnae. Zenedris tells her that if she had the Death Sentence, she would take Aselni’s head off right then. She then accuses Aselni of stealing the sword, and Aselni admits that she had. Sparda returns the missing part of Vergil’s soul. Vergil starts to cry, and Sparda takes him upstairs to rest, releasing the spells on the lower levels so Zenedris can lock Aselni away. Nestor Valters goes to the throne room and is ordered by Mundus to attack Lar’cincel and capture the Sparda and Sarcesti families. He balks and secedes from Mundus. He then leaves the throne room, thinking that it is time to get in touch with Sparda. In his home, Rithas Bolverk sits on his throne, thinking of his father’s death at Dante’s hands. His brother Elsec brings news of Nestor’s seceding from the Emperor, and then he tries to attack his brother. Rithas blocks him and kicks him away. Once Elsec is gone, he thinks that it is time to ignore the feud and reach out to Nestor Valters.
October 17 - Chapter 14 - Zenedris tries to break the block on the elder Vergil’s memories and fails, acknowledging that they need to find the spellcaster. Nestor nervously gets ready to go to Lar’cincel and is given a letter that was written by Rithas, asking him to join him at Lar’cincel. Alastair wonders out loud about Vergil ensouling the Yamato, and Sparda seems to know something. Rithas and Nestor arrive and Nestor tries to take the Alastor from Alastair. The sword shocks him, and he feels a sense of reproach from it. Dante explains what happened to Sirce and about his fight with Bolverk Vimors Bolverk. Sparda, Rithas, and Nestor agree to get the family heads together for a meeting.
October 18 - Chapter 15 - Sparda meets with Lian Itarls and convinces him to come to a meeting at Lar’cincel. Nestor thinks of his father, his father’s Ensouled, and his youngest brother, Hector. He then tells his son, Kastor, that they are going to Lar’cincel to meet with the other patriarchs and heirs. Sparda then goes to the Ximorn home and is invited in by Terln Ximorn.
Chapter 16 - Sparda meets with Terln Ximorn and convinces him to come to the meeting at Lar’cincel. He then meets with Sri Sris and convinces him as well. Elsec sees Rithas and Thenal leaving and goes off to scheme and plot. Himar Valters sees Nestor and Kastor leaving and meets with a nephew and cousin to plan. The patriarchs’ meeting takes place and everyone agrees to a mass rebellion and killing Mundus. Himar, Mesim, and Exis plan to get Nestor killed, and Elsec tells Mundus about the meeting. Mundus tells him to wait for a time to take care of his brother.
Chapter 17 - The meetings ends and Nestor apologizes to Zenedris Sarcesti for the deaths of her family. She tells him that there is nothing to forgive. Zenedris realizes who cast the block on Vergil’s memories, and Luxian is ordered by Sparda to undo what he has done. He does so and Vergil’s memories return and Dante takes him upstairs to nap. Nestor gives the Sarcesti library to Kastor to return to Zenedris, and after Kastor leaves, he is attacked from behind by Himar. His skull is crushed, his neck broken, and a power blocking collar is put around his neck, causing the patriarchy to jump to Kastor. Kastor is chased to Lar’cincel by Himar, Mesim, Exis and several lesser demons. He is attacked, but he gets his relatives off of him by invoking the patriarchal magic. Alastair and Dante, seeing everything from Lar’cincel, destroy the rest. Rithas discovers the existence of Lemian Bolverk, but before he can learn more, he is attacked from behind by Elsec. He falls unconscious due to the injury he is given. Kastor gives the Sarcesti library to Sparda to return to Zenedris and goes back to Kei’serse. Alastair goes with him.
Chapter 18 - Talthos thinks on how he failed his family, and Zenedris recruits him to create some magical mayhem for Mundus. Vergil remembers how he and Dante found the gate under the Swiss estate and how Luxian came through it and murdered his mother. He and Dante talk a little bit about Trish. Thenal Bolverk learns of the attack against his father and sees the information about Lemian Bolverk. Rithas wakes in the Forgotten Levels with an unhealed injury and a collar around his neck. He also sees Nestor Valters, unconscious, his injuries unhealed, with a collar around his neck as well. Thenal meets with Kastor and Alastair, who are plotting to find a way to rescue Nestor. He brings the two books that Rithas had been looking at, and Kastor is confused to see that there are no records of Lemian Bolverk other than his adoption record. Thenal asks that they continue looking, while he returns home.
Chapter 19 - Thenal challenges his uncle in N’mir’kus while Alastair lies in wait for Himar, Mesim, and Exis. When the three return home, Kastor forces them to tell him what they had done with Nestor. He then tells Lestor and Vector to lock the three up, and he and Alastair sneak down into the Forgotten Levels to find Nestor. Rithas wakes again and hears the guards talking about a planned attack on N’mir’kus. Thenal kills Elsec just before Mundus’ lackeys launch an attack on N’mir’kus, and Alastair and Kastor are ambushed in the Forgotten Levels. Lestor, alerted by Kastor, inform Sparda of Alastair and Kastor’s situation and of the attack on N’mir’kus. Sparda jump starts Vergil’s power, causing him to pass out, just as Alastair and Kastor finish off the crowd in the cell. They take Nestor and Rithas and begin the trek out of the Forgotten Levels, noting that the place is once again deserted.
October 19 - Chapter 20 - Vergil’s senses, working again, alert him to the presence of his father and brother in the room with him, which causes him to go from sound asleep to wide awake. Kastor and Alastair, along with Rithas and Nestor, arrive at Lar'cincel, and after leaving Nestor in the care of the Sarcesti women, Kastor returns to Kei'serse to get his family ready to go aid the Bolverks. Then the six families go to N'mir'kus, and Rithas, healed from his injury, joins them. Not long after the battle begins, Mundus withdraws his forces, and all of the familes depart to Lar'cincel, which has the most powerful wards.
Chapter 21 – The Seven decided that the best thing to do is to go to Mundus and face him on their terms, which they do. Once the battle has started, the Sarcestis and the Valters, along with Talthos, break away from the group and shield themselves behind an illusion. Once safely behind it, they use the distraction of the battle to begin drawing off Mundus' magic. Once most of it has been drained away, the battle ceased as Mundus dies, and his body crumbles into dust. The freed magic then seeks its origin; the Bolverk family and returns there. The throne room begins to collapse, and the reeling Bolverks have to be assisted out of the area by everyone else as all of them make their escape to the plain.
Chapter 22 – Rithas, who fainted after the battle due to sensory overload, wakes in Lar'cincel, and his mind is filled with information on how to use his new power. He can also see the magic around everyone in the room. He also realizes that, with the return of their patriarchal magic, Thenal has been deemed best to lead the family. Afterwards, they, and the other Bolverks return to N'mir'kus to collect their dead, which includes Rithas' wife. The funerals are done that very night.
October 20 – Chapter 22 – The Valters execute Mesim, Exis, and Himal for their plot to murder the patriarch. Talthos and Zenedris then raid Mundus' private chambers and are able to piece together the story of how the Imperial line came about, which they gleefully tell to everyone else. After that is done, at Alastair's urging, a party is thrown to celebrate the freedom of the Seven.
October 20 – November 5 – Chapter 23 – During the celebrations, Rithas grieves for his wife, Nestor lies comatose in his bed, and Aselni Sarcest is executed for familial betrayal. The Bolverks resume their former role as peacekeepers of the Underworld, and Sparda announces that the Sparda family, save Luxian, will be returning to the human world, with Lar'cincel to be given to the Sarcesti family to use as a home. During preperations for this, Talthos tears down the Sparda family wards on the tower, so Zenedris can put up her own. During a visit to Kei'serse, Alastor once again comes out of the sword that bears his name, heals Nestor of his injuries, and wakes him from his coma. Luxian is disowned for his actions, and the rest of the Sparda family, including Atalia, depart for the human world. Once in the human world, Talthos finally grieves for his wife and daughter, and demon activity drops off sharply, which depresses Dante and Alastair since they will have nothing to do to keep them occupied.
November 9 – Chapter 24 – The younger Vergil looks through his pictures and other mementos of Adele, and regrets that he never got the chance to explain things to her. Atalias, overhearing him and Sparda talking to each other, goes to Paris, tracks down Adele, and confronts her. That night at dinner, Sparda admits to his children and grandchildren that Luxian was disowned, and what exactly that means.
November 10 – Chapter 24 – Adele arrives at the house in the morning, and she apologizes to Vergil. The two then make up, and pick their relationship up where it had left off. As they are sitting down to dinner that night, Luxian, starved, angry, and desperate, arrives. He challenges Sparda to a duel, but the elder demon refuses. Furious, Luxian tries to cross the ward line to attack his brother, but he is incinerated by the wards. Talthos buries his child's ashes under a tree in the backyard, and the family goes back inside the house.
