Words that appear in bold in the definitions are explained elsewhere in The Fanfictionary.

ICKYWMB - Stands for I Can Kill You With My Brain, a nasty, but empty, threat. Villains love giving these out.

In Character (or IC for short) - In Character means that a canon character in a fanfiction is acting and speaking just like they would in the Canon. Not all fanfiction authors have the skill and knowledge of the canon to pull this one off very often, though some don't even appear to be trying.

Introduction - A literary term, the Introduction is the very important beginning of a story. The Introduction is similar to a Prologue, but it gives out a bit more detail, and introduces us to most, if not all, of the major characters, mainly the heroes. Villains are usually reserved for later. In a full length novel, the Introduction can run for three or four chapters. In a short story or novella, it is usually only one chapter long. Take care, because if your Introduction isn't done right, it can ruin your entire story and run your readers off before they really give it a chance.

J

Jossed - One of the downsides of writing fanfiction in a universe that is not complete, to be Jossed is to have your fanfiction made AU by newly published canon.

Justified Attack (or JA for short) - A term used by flamers when they Flame a story that is otherwise well liked.

K

Kill (fill in the blank with appropriate character) Fic - A variation of the Revenge Fic, the sole point of this type of fic is to kill off an unpopular canon character.

L

Lay Story - A fanfiction in which a thinly veiled Mary Sue acts out the author's sexual fantasies with the canon characters.

Lemon - An entire fanfiction, or just a single scene from a fic, which has graphic, detailed sex, be it Slash or Het. Lemon’s are very, VERY graphic. You have been warned.

Lemonade (A. K. A. Lemon Meringue) - A fanfiction with explicit, but still romantic, sex.

Lime - A less explicit version of a Lemon.

Lolicon - A relative of Chanslash, A Lolicon involves a romantic relationship, not always sexual, with a young girl.

Love/ Hate Fic - A fanfiction that focuses on two characters that have a love/ hate relationship.
